IMPROVING LIVES, ONE WELL AT A TIME.

Amina Capaldi was born and raised in northern Togo, Africa. She and her family moved to the U.S. in 1996, and while she is proud to be an American, she always felt a calling to help the people back in Togo secure a very basic human need – water.

Amina Capaldi, Founder and Board President

When Amina Capaldi shared the struggles of so many Africans with friends in the U.S., she was moved by how many wanted to help and started to think about the best way to transform this desire into action. She knew, firsthand, how having access to a clean, reliable water source close to home could change so many lives for the better. She still remembers the days when she had to search for water in 100-degree heat with no shoes on. She remembers what it felt like to carry water for miles with no food in her stomach. And she knew she had to do something to help others still facing those same struggles.

In 2013, she formed Wish Them Well and began collecting money to build water wells in villages in Togo that have no access to safe drinking water. With Amina serving as a conduit between local volunteers, contractors and village heads, Wish Them Well built its first well in May 2013 and continues to build and repair more every year.

Financial Transparency

We are an all-volunteer organization. We’ve seen the impact a local source of clean water can have on a village, and we simply want to install as many wells — and help as many people — as we can. We believe the best way to ensure that we are successful, and to maintain the trust of our donors, volunteers and communities we serve, is to work with complete financial transparency.
