In the Village of Tchaba, a brand new well was built in 2022. This village is also located in the Savanes Region of northern Togo.
Wish Them Well concentrates in this northern area of Togo where the climate is considered Sub-Saharan. The villagers living in this climate endure six months of rain and six months of drought. During the ‘dry’ season, it is not uncommon for villagers to walk 4, 5 or 6 hours searching for water to carry home. Conversely, during the ‘wet’ season, although easier to find, water can be contaminated. The published infant mortality rate is 43.2% with water-borne infection a leading cause of death.
At this point, Wish Them Well has a list of 25 villages with populations ranging from 275 to 710 people. We
considered these identified villages as in “Emergency” need of a well as the circumstances are very difficult for the
villagers.
